Some money saving tips for travel.
New! Swap houses/apartments with someone you know in a place you would like to visit.  Schedule vacations to coincide with theirs and exchange residences.  I do not recommend doing this with strangers.
  • Most resort areas have an off season.  Florida in October or November is like the Northeast in the Summer.  The rates for hotels are way down that time of year.
  • Camping can be cheap and fun, but you need to buy or borrow the equipment.
  • Try checking out some bed and breakfast places.
  • Get the local coupon books and travel brochures.
  • Ask local people for info on the best places to eat reasonably.
  • Eat at Diners or Family Restaurants.  They can be cheaper than fast food places, and the food's a lot better.  Also checkout supermarket deli's.
  • You can get extremely good deals by seeing what's available at the last minute.  Check out this link: Save $59 on your next Last-Minute Getaway!
  • Here's a deal from Orbitz.com JetBlue Matched by Major Airlines! Round-Trip from $104! Travel between September 7 and December 15 in most markets Note: Orbitz offers deal on airfare hotels, and car rentals.
  • If you're a senior citizen ask for the discount at hotels, restaurants, etc.
  • *Even if you just look like a senior citizen you may be able to get the discount.
  • See if the place your visiting has a convention and visitors bureau.  Also check for sites about the area that offer coupons.
  • If you're driving pack a cooler with food and drinks (non alcoholic, of course).
  • An article about visiting Niagara Falls
