Ideas For Saving Money

Some random ideas - more to follow.  Many of these suggestions you may already know, but maybe you just need a reminder.

A Clever Way To Seal A Door On A House.  Use A Thick Rope For A Seal.  You Can Tack, Nail Or Staple It Around The Door.  Seal It Next To The Casing With Caulk.  I Like This Better Than The Foam Strips You Buy That Don't Work.
Car insurance prices in the US vary widely.  Visit Cheap Car Insurance
A site that lets you comparison shop stores in your area (USA) is www.shoplocal.com
If you're trying to save money and your lifestyle permits it, you can rent a seasonal space at a year-round campground.  Buy an old mobile home or camper and live there year round.  In my area, some campgrounds only charge $500/year.  Even if they charge a lot more than that, it's still a deal compared to renting an apartment.
Save and use leftovers.  If your family is fussy about leftovers, freeze them and have them a few weeks later.
If you have any bad habits that cost you a lot of money, try to quit.  I'm sure you've heard this before. Just add up how much money you will save and how much easier your life and maybe the lives of people who care about you would be.  I realize that some bad habits are a lot of fun.  That just makes it tougher to quit.  But not impossible.  If you want the full lecture, Click Here.

Check bulk prices. Sometimes they are actually higher than smaller packages (check unit pricing).  If they're a good deal, separate the bulk into meal sizes and freeze.
*Dig a small trench over to a neighbor's house and connect to his power, cable and phone.
Keep track of what you buy that you don't need (for a while).  It will probably make additional funds available if you need to do some saving. Two Pepsi's a day can add up to over $60.00 per month.
Do everything you possibly can (within reason) to avoid late charges.  On credit cards paying late can also raise your interest rate. (Sometimes even on the cards you weren't late with).
Change your engine oil every 3000 miles.  If you do it yourself, it can be under $10.  This can help with gas mileage (Gas is not cheap right now).
If you need to go to the store, and it is close by, try walking.  This may eliminate the need to go to the Gym, and saves on gas.
If your TV breaks, and it's not too old, it's probably worth fixing.  Get an estimate first.
*Tell your children that wolves can survive for up to 2 weeks without food.
Don't ever buy designer clothes, unless they are on a very good sale.
Concentrate on one debt to get rid of at a time.  Pay a little extra if you can to save interest.
Car pool, or use Mass Transportation, if available.

Don't ever buy anything from a rental place.  You could end up paying more than four times what it's worth.  You're better off buying a used washer and dryer for $150 than paying a rental place $50 a week!  If you don't have the money, go to a Laundromat and save the rest of the fifty bucks until you do have the money.
Of course turn off lights and electronic equipment when not in use.
Bag your lunch if possible.
*Teach your dog to steal food from the neighbors.
Instead of taking the kids to a movie, take them to a drive-in (If there's one in your area.  You can bring your own food and drinks, and admission is cheaper.
      ***Bizarre Home Remedies:

         1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't
panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your
throat and presto! The blockage will be almost
 instantly removed.

         2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while
slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold
 them while you chop away.

        3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about
lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink.

         4. High blood pressure sufferers: simply cut
yourself and bleed for a while, thus reducing the
 pressure in your veins.

         5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm
clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going
back to sleep when you hit the snooze button.

        6. If you have a bad cough, take a large
dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.

        7. Have a bad tooth ache? Hit your thumb
with a hammer, then you will forget about the tooth
ache..

* I really don't recommend doing anything marked with an asterisk.  However I have considered them.

*** Don't even think about really doing these.
